Which layer your skin needs first can't be seen at the surface. It shows in your consult.

The treatment

At Mavi, HIFU is not a quick fix, but often the engine of a lift journey. With targeted ultrasound energy, we work selectively at three depths — down to the SMAS layer, where the structure that carries lift is found. No surface heating, and usually little to no social downtime.

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound delivers thermal energy at precisely chosen depths beneath the skin, without damaging the surface. There, it stimulates the skin to produce new collagen and elastin. Because HIFU doesn't target skin pigment, it can be suitable across different skin tones — suitability always depends on your skin, anatomy and safety intake.

Never loose — always in a plan

HIFU is part of a plan, not a one-off treatment.

We don't decide on a single treatment in advance. During your Skin Strategy Consult we analyse your skin and build a plan — which treatment, in which order, at which rhythm. Only then do we schedule sessions. So you know exactly where HIFU fits in your story.

Rhythm · We don't fix the number of sessions in advance: sometimes one session with evaluation is enough, sometimes an additional zone-focused session makes sense. We decide that after analysis and response measurement, within an agreed journey.

How it works

What happens beneath the skin

1.5 mm — texture

Superficial work on skin quality and fine texture in the upper layers.

3.0 mm — dermis

At the dermal level, we stimulate the collagen build-up that provides firmness.

4.5 mm — SMAS

The depth where the actual lift arises: the same layer a surgeon tightens during a facelift, here without cutting.

The three depths

Where the lift comes from

Not all skin tightening happens at the same depth. We work selectively on three levels — from texture in the dermis to the SMAS layer that carries the actual lift.

Elke diepte heeft een eigen taak: textuur en tonus in de dermis, de eigenlijke lift op de SMAS-laag (4.5 mm). Daarom stemmen we per zone af — geen vaste, generieke instelling.

Staying honest

What you can and can't expect

What it is

  • A gradual build-up where each session builds on the previous one
  • Skin that feels tighter and firmer
  • A result that keeps developing for months

What it isn't

  • Not a surgical facelift and not a replacement for one
  • Not a one-session wonder or an instant transformation
  • No volume or filling — that's a different story

Questions

Good to know

Is HIFU painful?+

You feel brief pulses of heat at depth; most people experience this as well tolerable. The in-motion handpiece makes the treatment more comfortable. More sensitive zones feel a bit more intense.

Is there downtime after HIFU?+

Usually little to no social downtime: because we don't damage the surface of the skin, you can generally get on with your day right away. Temporary redness, sensitivity, tingling or mild swelling can occur.

When will I see a result?+

Collagen build-up takes time. You often notice the first change after a few weeks, with further build-up over 2–3 months. That's why we evaluate along the way.

How many sessions do I need?+

That depends on your skin and your goal. During the Skin Strategy Consult we determine whether HIFU fits and at what rhythm — never a standalone session without a plan.

Does HIFU suit your skin?

During your Skin Strategy Consult we determine together whether this treatment fits — and in which order within your plan.
